11pm, the freaks come out.
June 18, 2009 at 6:44 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentI just came from a packed bar with a crowd composed of 50% poseurs , 20 % friends of poseurs, 10% people who are dragged in by friends of poseurs, 10% people looking for chicks, 2% chicks(with their boyfriends), 3% people celebrating their birthdays and 10% a bunch of old guys drinking. It’s 105% all in all cos the 5% of the old guys aren’t really part of the crowd and the other 5% get so drunk that they start to blend in with the freaks. This is combined with a very smokey room, overpriced beer and bad music.
(Statistics are subjective and done on my own personal observation)
I have to admit, I’m actually here a lot every time my high school friends want to meet up after work or on lost weekends for a few beers. I think we’re part of the “10% old guys”, a little bit part of the “people that look for chicks” and since i hate this bar when the freaks start to come in and I’m still there, then maybe I’m also a little bit part of the 50% poseurs.
Despite my negativity. I have to hand it to the person marketing the bar, he can bring in a crowd and fool them for paying overpriced drinks. *slow golf clap*

I’ve been busy concentrating on this little business me and my cousin franchised. We’re really forced to keep our eyes pealed on it for the first month so we can perfect the system. I’ve been going home late almost 7 days a week . I miss playing my guitar for hours
.
My distance from my guitar, laptop and any other ear stimulating instrument is actually helping me come up with more ideas and melodies in my head. I’ll probably record them soon in my laptop and il……..

May 9, 2009 at 7:54 pm | In Uncategorized | 2 CommentsI sessioned for taken by cars again today. It was a last minute call cos their guitarist had a last minute emergency thing that he had to take care of. I’ve been friends with those Chinese boys way before we had an album. The gig was in SM north annex. I can’t recall them being a noisy band but every time i play with them, our set is always “post-rock-ish” and very loud (“noisy” does not necessarily mean bad, I think radiohead is noisy and they make one of the best music out there) , I’m not sure if they do that cos I’m the one playing or that’s how they really are, but a few oldies were passing by covering their ears, I don’t really care as long as I have fun with what I’m doing. So i get into it and just strum my guitar like i’d have to break my strings to save the world.
I miss our drummer Ean. He had to leave for Hong kong to take care of responsibilities, his return is still tentative but he comes and goes to play once in a while. When he was here he gave me 5gb worth of new tunes. Listening to new music is always a breath of fresh air for me.
Anyway, I’m just speaking what’s on top of my head. A friend once told me to just type anything I’m thinking of when I’m blogging.
oh ya by the way I’m……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….(this paragraph was deletd and will be posted again soon)………………………………………………..making.
that’s all.
………………………

This is a shot of my favorite foreign band who's name I will not disclose cos they are just so good and awesome that I've decided to be selfish with their music... but if you are able to figure out who they are just by looking at this picture then maybe I'll have a small talk conversation with you for 10 minutes about how good the band is and then maybe talk about the weather during awkward silences.

Hi, chronic lower back pain
Why did you have to return in my life again? The first time you introduced yourself was when I had a bad landing while playing basketball way back in highschool. You know I love basketball and you know i sucked at it, I didn’t deserve meeting your aquantance at that time. You made me force myself playing with you, which made me suck even more.
The second time was in college, when I aquired a second hand ten pounder gibson les paul. I was making extra cash from it by playing three sets with my band every tuesday in this bar,I needed it cos I barely had allowance. You knew that playing the guitar was the only thing that kept me alive emotionally and monetarily at that time. There were times i had to commute to the gig with the guitar slung on my back and you were nothing but a nuisance. You also knew that i had up to five or more bands at that time. If I remember correctly, I think you were chilling with me for a whole year.
I hate you.
I was able to drive you away by going through physical therapy for a few weeks. I forgot the scientific name my doctor called you, but I think I’ll just call you “hassle” or “hasslehof” if you prefer a more masculine alpha male sounding name.
The bad landing in basketball and forcing to play, and the heavy guitar and still forcing to carry and lug around kinda makes sense why you got drawn in to me. But why did you have to ruin my day and wake me up this morning? What did I do this time? Well, I am playing basketball again with some guys from Terno, but I don’t remember feeling any injuries from the past few games. I know my guitar effects case weighs like a ton, but it has wheels so i can drag it around now instead of just carrying it and besides, Sherwin, is in almost every gig to help me out. So why? why? why??? are you here??? I just started working for a audio house company, this afternoon I couldn’t focus on editing, instead i focused on controlling my mouth from cursing cos of you.
It feels like you’re more hurtful than ever before.
you’re a bitch… yes you!!
love,
your friend Carlos

I also have this annoying stiff neck from going crazy playing last saturday. It was fun though.

from left most to right: adrian's board, me, boogie, you.
A good friend of mine Adrian ,from way back in high school , invited me to experience this specific untouched spot in bolinao for the holy week. We passed by a few of the resorts before getting to our destination and i must say he was 90% correct cos our spot was pretty isolated considering it was holy week . The 10% i left of cos there were still a few people that discovered the spot as well.
The owner of the house we stayed in was of Spanish ancestry, his name was Tomas. He looked like he could pass for a tourist that lost his passport years and just decided to stay in bolinao or one of the old guys on the top 3 of a “Survivor” episode and at the same time he talked like he could sell fish for a bargain at the local palengke cos of his thick tagalog accent. His house was just a nipa hut type, but it was big enough to roof the fans of Keith Martin. Tomas was very hospitable and happy to have us over his place.

crissy taking a dip
The water was clear and clean and not too salty, the sand was fine, nothing like powder but it was a comforting enough to know that you’re away from concrete city , the current and the waves were both swimable and surfable. It was beautiful. The best part was the isolation. Although considering it’s holy week, the following day people started coming in with there tents, but it was still tolerable for the season. I definitley plan to go back there one of these days, and not during holy week.
We met a few outdoor people from Canada that were tenting by the shore, they had a pet lab with a black bandana around it’s neck, i wanted to name him “Skipper” but he already had a name and it was “Luka”. While i was a few meters on the water facing down he just suddenly swam to me, pounding his paw on my back. Then i dove in under and went a little further down, and he still followed me. I think he was trying to save my life, so i pat his head and said “Im not drowning boy and gave him a hug!” then he swam back to shore.
bolinao secret spot + a few cash +the right sounds + alot of beer +a few mushrooms + good company + alot of beer + right frame of mind + alot of beer = ” ESCAPE”

sunset playlist 5:30pm 5:45 telefon tel aviv, fahrenheit is far enough 5:45 to 5:50 telefon tel aviv, map of what is effortless, 5:50 -6pm siguro ros () 6pm - 6-6:15 hopipolla and saeglapur.
If you want to be in a resort where in , cold mango shakes are served beside you while you wade by an infiniti pool, dry towels ready to be wrapped around you from every dip you get up to , you get to wear your favorite over priced board shorts and bikinis to show off to people on the beach who are scantily clad as you are and maybe enjoy some secret events that doesn’t leave the island and then resting in a room with a queen size bed with a 2 horse power split type aircon with room service. Then the place for you would probably be boracay or something similar. I wouldn’t mind this too.
But for a quick getaway in Luzon bolinao is probably the best beach for me.

I’m not feeling so well for a gigless friday night.
I dunno what it is.. fever, cough, colds or you.
I Decided to ignore everyone’s invite to go out and just stay home and play with my acoustic guitar, i used the acoustic cos the power supply of my effects is already in power supply heaven.
I came up with a few riffs, click link below if you want to hear em.

warning :I am a little intoxicated as I type right now.
Early this evening I came from a non-gay and non- incestuous date with my cousin to watch journey, a friend of mine had free tickets and it was really cool of him to hook me and my cuz up with complimentary passes. I have to say, Arnel Pineda can really sing! He hit the right notes like babe ruth hit baseballs. I also thought he was better than steve perry (original journey), because he had a slightly rasperier voice which made it more intensifying. Then again, maybe I’m just saying that cos he’s filipino and is a perfect example of a regular Juan’s dreams coming true. Anyway shmemyway, I’m gna sleep. nighty zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

March 8, 2009 at 8:02 pm | In Uncategorized | 8 CommentsBeen hanging out with my high school friends again lately, I kinda missed those buttheads. I rarely get to hang out with them at night cos usually I’m somewhere else strumming my six stringer. One of my good friends lost a few pounds cos of his new addiction and it’s not shaboo, mountain biking rather. He’s trying to get us all in to it, as a new form of hobby and exercise at the same time. I’m actually going to try it out, since my sister has one of those awesome looking mountain bikes with all those cool springs and gears all over it. I’m starting to get bored with just jogging at night in the park, it beats the treadmill though, but i think it’s about time i add some spize in exercize. So probably next Sunday I’ll try to hit the trails in the fort and continue on with what i left off years ago with my cartimar made BMX.

February 23, 2009 at 3:42 pm | In Uncategorized | 9 CommentsI finally had a weekend outside manila! I’ve been wanting to get lost outside the city since november last year (don’t ask me why November cos ill give you a false answer). It was a Baguio and then La union trip. I had to pack bipolar wardrobes cos of the extremes in the weather conditions of my two destinations.
I enjoy roadtrips, but not on the way to a gig with my bandmates, they have a habbit of just having their ipods on the whole trip and be boring, ( no effense guys and girl) which later on became a habbit of mine as well. so I decided not to sleep the night before and just crash in the van. Which actually worked, it was like i was in baguio in ten seconds.
We arrived Baguio 10:30am and went straight to their local radio station for an interview right after dropping of our luggage in this shitty hotel we stayed in. I’m not being a rockstar or anything, but the hotel was really crappy, if you exchange the winodows and door with bars, It can probably pass for a high end 3rd world jail cell. Armi’s room even had had a funky smell to it, she had it changed eventually. Given the crappy room situation I decided to just go around baguio and take pictures with my friends lomo cam till call time (4pm). I’ll try to post a few pics i took when i have the film developed.
Surprisingly, come 5pm there were already a lot people waiting for us to play, despite the lack of advertising of the event. It was pretty fun, I was a having a Coldplay moment of playing outdoors with chilled smoke coming out of my mouth due to baguio’s cool weather. And despite the crappy rooms SM gave us they kinda made up for our meals. We were fed like kings.
We met a lot of new baguio fans that bought our album and even old fans from the first few times we played there last 2006 and 2007. At night I, polyap, Armi and my cousin decided to go around session road for some drinks and for ketchup ketchup time. I really like baguio, especially at night, even though it got a little developed it still feels so laid back, and walking in their 7elevens feel like im in hongkong for some reason.
I woke up at 5am with my cousin. changed to my beach clothes, said goodbye to paul and the rest and left behind my baguio luggage and guitar and effects with sherwin (band p.a). We took the earliest schedule (that we were awake) trip to La union which was 7am. Arrived in La union 9:30am , our good friend from la union picked us up in the terminal and went straight to the resort. The minute i checked in, I placed on my rashguard and surfed the la union waves. Stayed there over night with a few friends from manila. I was under the sun half of the time of my stay there which made my arms and legs look like tocino.

shot by migs duldulao and his super cool camera.
honesty, I started writing this blog entry being all excited to blog about my weekend but towards the end of my paragraph it’s like i wanted to stop typing and go to la union now and surf and surf before the waves flatten out.
anyway, my Ipod was on shuffle and the beatles played.
“Your gonna lose that girl”
by the beatles
You’re going to lose that girl
You’re going to lose that girl
If you don’t take her out tonight
she’s going to change her mind
And I will take her out tonight
And I will treat her kind
You’re going to lose that girl
You’re going to lose that girl
If you don’t treat her right, my friend
You’re going to find her gone
‘Cause I will treat her right and then
You’ll be the lonely one
You’re going to lose that girl
You’re going to lose that girl
You’re going to lose
I’ll make a point of taking her away from you
Yeah, the way you treat her, what else can I do
You’re going to lose that girl
You’re going to lose that girl
You’re going to lose
I’ll make a point of taking her away from you
Yeah, the way you treat her, what else can I do
If you don’t take her out tonight
she’s going to change her mind
And I will take her out tonight
And I will treat her kind

February 12, 2009 at 8:26 pm | In Uncategorized | 1 CommentI’ve been having a fixation over anything pork lately. Im talking about Ham, Pork chops, pork and beans, pork bbq, spoon and pork(kihihi), . I was always a chicken type of guy, come to think i was even a vegeterian for almost two years (2002-04, what was I thinking). I think this fixation started a few weeks ago when my carnivorous cousin peer preasured me to have a double quarter pounder with him, and a baconater a few days later. Need I explain if they were good?? Honestly the baconater failed me, the whole time while I was murdering the baconater I was actually daydreaming how good the double quarter pounder would be if it had bacon like the baconater. I’m not typing out randomly at 3:57am so that I can promote pork ( I’m bipolar like this). I’m just simply typing out randomly
. Anyway im tired, came from a gig and had a midnight snack in some ihawan along katipunan… I had 3 sticks ofpork barbecue.
What your seeing in the picture above isn’t a cool “artsy fartsy shot”. It’s actually a shot of the anticipation of my pedal board that’s about to go heywire on stage in front of a lot of people.

You have always been bad news, everything you touched turned into rust.
You, on the other hand, should deflate your erratic mind of what has become pride.
You folks blocked my light today….
But I’ll expect you to come back…
